DAY 6 : Monday, May 11 I ELLA
Today we embark on a meditative hike through three vastly different landscapes of the Southern mountain region. The trek is an inspiring slower-pace day-long introspective expedition, but it is all downhill and well worth the effort. Our trekking local expert will begin with an invigorating vista of the “Big Three”: Ella Rock, Rawana Falls, Little Adam’s Peak. We will take a pleasant Ceylon tea break and continue with a descend along a quieter region of “mist”-erious tea plantations. Here we can nurture our spirit with natural lemongrass aromatherapy. Upon reaching the jungle we will have the rare opportunity to experience rainforest bathing and will do a walking meditation through a refreshing naturally purifying “kumbuk” water stream. At the end, we will enjoy a well-deserved picnic in the paddy field.
DAY 7 : Tuesday, May 12 I BUTTALA
In the morning, we take the road south toward the wilder regions of the Buttala plains. This fertile land is bordered by the tallest mountains to the North and the vast wilderness of the Yala National Park. We will encounter many endemic species native to this area and will surrender ourselves to the cocoon of nature within our open-air accommodations. Our unique eco-lodge is gently graced by the mystical gem “Manik” river and is the perfect setting for our Ayurveda massage and yoga training in Sri Lanka. Here we will spend the next three days practicing daily meditation and learning to cook healthy Ayurvedic meals at the retreat eco-community kitchen. The intimate nature of our surroundings are a great way to unwind and embrace deep emotional healing.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO COME TO SRI LANKA FOR A WELLNESS RETREAT?
Sri Lanka is an all-year destination, with peak seasons falling on the months of December through April and July through August. However, the high season months can be quite crowded with hundreds of tourists visiting the main sites and national parks. This can lead to the feeling of rushing through a visit or having to stand on long lines to access a site, something that we try to avoid on our Ayurveda and yoga retreat in Sri Lanka.
The ideal months to visit Sri Lanka on a slower-paced spiritual itinerary are the lower season months such as May through June and September through November. These also happen to be important months in the cultural calendar of the island, with Vesak Festival in May and Binara Perahera in September. Both of these cultural and religious events are the highlight of Sriseeker retreat itineraries.
The lower season months can present occasional monsoon showers, however all of our wellness travel itineraries are structured in such a way as to optimize on locations that tend to be dryer during this time. This also means that we get to experience the serenity of the island firsthand, with smaller numbers of tourists at the main sites and an authentic experience closer to the local population.
HOW DO I REACH SRI LANKA AND WHERE WILL I BE PICKED UP?
Sri Lanka can be easily reached via a number of connecting destinations in Europe, Middle East and Asia. If you are visiting Sri Lanka for the first time, it is good to acquaint yourself with the basics of our SRI LANKA GUIDE.
Sri Lanka has one international airport named Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), located 1h30 drive to the economic capital of Colombo, and 30min drive to the nearby coastal town of Negombo. If you are coming for a Sriseeker retreat, you will be picked up by our driver at the time of your arrival time at the airport. On arrival, additional accommodations can be arranged by Sriseeker for pre-retreat arrivals and some downtime to recover from the long flights. All international travelers to Sri Lanka are required to obtain a tourist visa prior to entry into the country. The tourist visa allows multiple entry into Sri Lanka for a duration of 30 days, but can be extended for another 30 days while in Sri Lanka at the Immigration Authority. The E-Visa Application should be submitted on the official government site for a nominal fee of US$40 via a credit card payment and confirmation will be sent to your e-mail within 24 hours. Visa on arrival facilities are also available at the airport for an additional fee, however it is highly advisable to obtain the e-Visa prior to arrival, which is an easy and straight forward online registration process. WHAT TO BRING ON A WELLNESS TRIP TO SRI LANKA?
Your wellness journey will depend greatly on how well you have prepared for it. For Sriseeker wellness travelers we recommend to travel light, packing only the essentials that will go well with the itinerary at hand. Sri Lanka is a malaria-free destination, so you will not be needing to take any medical or vaccination precautions. Still, some practical items should be considered for all travel itineraries to Sri Lanka.
